UPDATED! Drummer Extraordinare — Kim Pine!

I am an unabashed Scott Pilgrim fan. I love it so much, that I’ve been painfully aware that with every page turn, I am closer to the end — no more Scott, Ramona, Young Neil, Knives, Stephen, Wallace and the whole gang. And, then there’s Kim Pine. *Sigh* Kim Pine. My favorite character.

I was feeling kinda’ deflated when I couldn’t hold off the end any longer and finally finished the 6th book … so Grace drew Kim with me.

But, I was still a bit sad until I realized: I actually DID marry Kim Pine. Short. Red Head. Freckles. Sarcastic. Sensitive. Energetic. Indomitable. Willing to put up with idiots. And, named, “Kim.” So, maybe that’s why I loved the character in the first place. Thanks, Honey.

NEW! Here’s a Kim Pine from Cate!

Scott Pilgrim & Ramona Flowers by Eden & Jason Garrattley!

Grace and I got a very nice, little surprise over the weekend — these fantastic drawings of Scott Pilgrim and Ramona Flowers all the way from the UK by illustrator/designer Jason Garrattley and his nine-year-old daughter, Eden. Great stuff, guys!

Jason runs some incredible blogs you should check out … well … right now:
KirbyVision: the fan art blog affiliated with the Jack Kirby museum
BetweenClarkAndHilldale: Jason’s blog with his art and design work
AncientAndForever: an AMAZING Dr. Who fan art blog

Scott Pilgrim and Ramona Flowers! by Cate (5), Grace (6) & Dad

It was my night to pick, so I chose the two lead characters of my favorite comic that combines the petty love affairs of maudlin young adults with bone-crushing kung-fu action — SCOTT PILGRIM by Bryan Lee O’Malley! Check out the web site at http://www.scottpilgrim.com/ You can follow Bryan on Twitter here: http://twitter.com/radiomaru

And, as if it weren’t already cool enough, it’s about to be a movie by Shaun of the Dead (A.K.A. “Greatest Movie Ever”) director Edgar Wright! Enjoy!
